Temple of Cinema. Parajanov masterpieces unveiled at Ayrarat cinema
The installation included screenings of the artist's masterpiece “The Color of Pomegranate”, which was left out of the main editing of the film, giving visitors from Armenia and tourists visiting the Golden Apricot Film Festival an exclusive opportunity to immerse in Parajanov's world.
The Armenian Film Heritage Recovery and Publication Program has been launched in 2018 in partnership with the Armenian National Film Center and English Producer Daniel Bird. The project has also initiated the restoration of the left out scenes from the "Color of pomegranates". The valuable film tapes have been transported to Poland, where FIXAFILM has restored them. “The scenes left out of Parajanov’s masterpiece are as valuable as your parchment books kept today at the Matenadaran,” said producer Daniel Burd at a press conference in Yerevan.
The official opening of the Temple of Cinema installation took place in January this year at the 48th Rotterdam International Film Festival in St. Armenius Church, where Parajanov’s “Sayat Nova” was featured on 24 screens accompanied by Tigran Mansuryan’s music. There are already invitations from different countries today to show the great interest in the Cinema Temple project. The Yerevan screening was also complemented by the documentary film by Ruben Gevorgyats called "In the World" presenting rare scenes from Parajanov's life.
