The capacity of the Homeland Defender’s Rehabilitation Center will be doubled with the support of MY STEP Foundation
“I am pleased to say that our courageous hero boys, our soldiers have always been under special care of the Foundation.
Particularly under the circumstances, we are obliged to express our support for our soldiers and their families and make bold steps. We owe it all to our brave servicemen fallen, missing or disabled during the war; to all those who sacrificed their lives for our lives; to all those who lost loved ones and their homes. Their families must live with dignity”, said Hovhannes Ghazaryan, Executive Director of MY STEP Foundation.
Renovation and furnishing of the building of the First University Hospital Complex first of all, envisages, doubling of the capacity of the Center. 60 new wards, new rooms for physiotherapy and ergotherapy, pain management room, prosthesis room, express laboratory would operate in the space renovated by the Foundation. As a result, the Center will be able to serve twice as many soldiers per month as it does now, thus serving 600 instead of current 300 patients.
Let us remind you that in 2019 with the support of the Foundation, central part of the building of the Center was completely strengthened, about 1000 square meters were renovated, and the capacity of the Center was increased by 40%. Offices for speech therapist and psychologist, as well as new kinesiotherapy room were opened.
The Center was also replenished with first aid equipment. About 200 wounded soldiers have received rehabilitation treatment, dental care, necessary medication and care products. The staff of the Center was retrained.
“One-window" system has been launched, which enabled registration of 557 wounded and disabled servicemen, identification of issues and needs. With the support of the Foundation, a Hall, named after Armenak Urfanyan, a serviceman fallen during April war, was opened.
Many of the wounded have been athletes in the past, and after the renovation and furnishing of the Center, they are able to make their dreams of practicing and training again come true. The gym gives the opportunity and, in fact, promotes the participation of persons with disabilities in mainstream sporting activities in our country.
