Dental services for the elderly of Gyumri Day Care Centre
My Step Foundation's support program for the elderly with poor dental health has been launched in the Gyumri Day Care Centre. Due to funding provided by the Foundation, dental services (treatment, prosthetics and other supportive interventions) were provided to the residents of the Centre since June 2020. In strict quarantine conditions, the work performed is under direct and vigilant control of the Centre's leadership. Specialist doctors are also very careful.
"Comprehensive dental services, as such, have never been provided to the elderly, this kind of charity events have never been organized here, the volume of work is quite large, and I think we will continue through December. Due to this event, we will significantly improve the quality of life of the elderly”, said Artyom Petrosyan, the Centre's Coordinator.
The services are provided by the "Eurodent" Postgraduate Educational Centre, which has opened a temporary dental room for the elderly. This initiative is very important in terms of improving the quality of life of the elderly – from health to mental well-being.
"All the residents of the Centre need dental care. For the first time we will make metal-porcelain (metal-ceramic) teeth for them. Their enthusiasm and gratitude is obligatory and touching. One of them, in gratitude, asked to play the dhol (the Armenian double-headed drum) for the doctors”, said Levon Grigoryan, Director of Eurodent LLC.
My Step Foundation's dental care program for the elderly was launched in 2019. It was successfully implemented in the Vanadzor Old Age Home, 31 residents of which received dental care including teeth removal and treatment, placement of dental crowns and also partial or complete dental prosthesis.
