Supporting access to education in Vayots Dzor

05 June, 2020
Education and its accessibility is among the most important tenets that guide the activities of the My Step Foundation. With this in mind, the Foundation has initiated and continues to support accessibility to education for children in vulnerable families by providing 331 tablets to 26 schools in 23 communities in Vayots Dzor.

In close cooperation with the selected schools and Vayots Dzor regional administration, the social team of the Foundation conducted needs assessment and compiled a list of children from vulnerable families accordingly.

"We have adopted the following principle: one child from one family, expanding the circle of beneficiaries as much as possible. The tablets will be provided to schools so that the school has the opportunity to control the use of tablets exclusively for educational purposes,” said Gayane Ghazaryan, Social and Health Program Coordinator.

The selection of this region has a reason. Vayots Dzor is the region that receives the least support from social programs of international NGOs, that have no regional offices there.

The distribution process of the tablets itself was organized in compliance with the restrictions and safety norms in force.

The My Step Foundation has a vision for the development of Armenia. To that end the Foundations has begun implementing a number of short and long-term programs. In addition to these programs, the Foundation is responsive to current issues, making efforts to react quickly and efficiently to new problems that arise. The challenges of distance learning in the education system as a result of the COVID-19 have appeared on the radar of the Foundation. Despite the circumstances, everyone must enjoy the equal opportunity for education.

Knowledge is a power of strategic importance for a civilized and developing country. Supported by donors loyal to this vision, the Foundation will continue to implement various programs for the development of this key sector as a key to the brighter future of our country.
